In the distance, hilltops are covered in golden grass, only a few bushes and trees interrupt.
It is always windy here. Stiff, patchy brushwork describes the hills, clouds and suggestion of that coastal wind. If I were to only use three colors for the California landscape, this painting encapsulates them: Ultramarine/Cobalt blue, Naples yellow and Sap/Earth green. Oh, and why not throw in some Burnt Sienna!
